Karolina Ochab
directorKarolina Ochab is a graduate of Romance Philology at Warsaw University. In 2000 she was hired as impresario by Teatr Rozmaitości (now TR Warszawa), and soon after the theatre started to participate in international festivals. In 2001 she created the first theatrical production department in Poland, introducing the function of producer to the Polish theatrical scene.
During her years at Teatr Rozmaitości Karolina Ochab produced Uroczystość (2001), 4.48 Psychosis (2002), 2007:Macbeth (2005) Grzegorz Jarzyna, Oczyszczeni (2002), Dybuk (2003), The Tempest (2003) by Krzysztof Warlikowski, Stosunki Klary (2003) by Krystian Lupa, Teren Warszawa project (2003/2004) and many other cultural events including international projects such as Mobile Academy. From 2005 to 2008 she was the main producer and curator at the National Audiovisual Institute, e.g. producing flagship series: The Polish School of Documentary Filmmmaking and The Anthology of Polish Animation.
Karolina Ochab was also responsible for documenting contemporary Polish theatre and opera, e.g. H by J. Klata, Krum by K .Warlikowski, King Roger by M. Treliński, and organized other cultural events such as festivals of Paweł Szymański and Józef Robakowski. In 2007 she produced The Brothers Karamazov by Peter Zelenka. Since 2008 she has been the director of Nowy Teatr, a theatre established on the initiative of Krzysztof Warlikowski and the city of Warsaw. In addition to her managerial work, she collaborates with the artistic director in preparing the theatre's programme, using her professional experience in the search for new forms of theatre. She is an academic at the State Drama School in Warsaw.
