Steve Reich / Kwadrofonik and guests. Minimalism and postminimalism

The 1960s saw an incredible explosion of new artistic currents and ideas that still inspire creators of modern art. The sixties, with their dissent and negation of tradition, have become a classic. Minimalism is a case in point, with the year 1964 marking a breakthrough in minimal art. Terry Riley creates his magnum opus In C, considered the first purely minimalist composition. Steve Reich embarks on his first experiments with recording tape. "Music for Eighteen Musicians", composed from 1974 to 1976, is still considered one of the most magnificent works of mature minimalism, ushering in the post-minimal period in Reich’s work. Kwadrofonik has created the first ensemble in Poland to specialize in the performance of repetitive music. The project brings together prominent musicians associated both with new and avant-garde currents as well as classical music.
