Remember the story about the tree of eternal life, the first murder, saving animals, Sarah, Abraham, Hagar, Isaac, Dina, Jacob and Joseph? The Bible is a completely unknown book.
What is the Book of Genesis about?
God created the world and people, but he gave no instructions to anyone. Genesis talks about the difficult relationship between people and God in a time when they were just getting to know each other. People in this story made a lot of mistakes and God punishes them for it – or not. Just like today!
Our myths allow us to dream and act together. Biblical stories are a binder that unites the world of Jews, Christians and Muslims. Today we need these stories more than ever. We follow the trail of the difficult choices and serious literature that teaches the approach to a world without any leniency.
The Bible: The book of free people is a series of art workshops and a theatrical play. These are three performances for peoples of all faiths for ages 6+.
Bible. Gen 12-25
Part Two of a trilogy based on the Book of Genesis. Michał Zadara stages the story of Abraham.
A show in its audiences' imaginations.
Twas so: Abraham and Sarah had always wanted to have children. And when God finally gave them children, it turned out He can also take them back. Then there was Lot, the only one who was just and the only one saved from a city destroyed in punishment. There was also Hagar, an exiled woman who attracted angels.
This performance contains important lessons and fascinating tales for both parents and their offspring – suitable for anyone between the ages of 6 and 166.
In the first part of the trilogy, audiences co-created a Biblical world by painting the sets. This time, they will meet in a different dimension. The audience will become co-creators, while also being the show's protagonists, seeing as the second part will be played out in a sound sphere. The main creative mechanism will be the imagination. We will no longer dirty ourselves with paint – time to put our other senses to good use.
Bible. Gen 37-50
In the final part of the trilogy, Zadara stages Joseph's story.
But it was thus: Joseph, Jacob's beloved son, was sold by his brothers to the Ishmaelites, ending up in a prison in Egypt. This is where his gift for interpreting dreams revealed itself, and he was able to tell the Pharaoh Egypt would experience seven years of plenty, followed by seven years of hunger. The grateful Pharaoh nominated him steward of all of Egypt. Following years of starvation, his brothers reached him, wanting to buy grain. Instead of revenge, Joseph chose the path of forgiveness. He reunited with his brothers, bringing his father Joseph and the rest of his family to Egypt. Once he passed away a few years later, Joseph was buried in Canaan.
In the first part of the trilogy, audiences co-created Biblical worlds using paint. In the second, they peopled them – each person using their imagination to create musical soundscapes. God only knows what will happen next.
For followers of all faiths, aged 6 and upwards.
