A cycle of Chain Ensemble concerts, presenting important musical achievements from the past few decades beyond the annual feast of contemporary music that is the Warsaw Autumn festival. The programme of concerts at Nowy Teatr presents works which are or else should be a part of our contemporary musical canon.
During the inauguration, we will listen to works by the cult post-modernist Paweł Szymański, as well as classic contemporaneity by György Ligeti, and also representatives of the younger generation of the avant-garde: Francesco Filidei and Raphaël Cenda. In this very year, as part of New Music Stage, we will present works by the likes of György Kurtága, Agata Zubel and Georg Friedrich Haas, with the involvement of world-class soloists.
Chain Ensemble is a chamber orchestra set up under the patronage of the Association of Witold Lutosławski, specialising in performing new music. The orchestra has performed at festivals Łańcuch and Warszawska Jesień, in the year 2016 launching a project titled Unchained, which aims to present new music in smaller urban centres. The artistic director is the cellist and conductor Andrzej Bauer.
