Pilot programme of art classes for school classes grade 7 & 8, based on three thematic segments: image/colour, word/illustration and movement/stage. We will attempt to fill gaps in school curricula, arising out of a recent reduction in the hours assigned to art, skills and music classes. Workshops will add to the basic concepts taken from the histories of art, crafts, music and interpreting and analysing texts.
How do actors interpret poems? And what about dancers and visual artists? What tools do they use, what do they pay attention to, in what way do they express their thoughts? We will work on poems by Bolesław Leśmian, Wisława Szymborska and Stanisław Barańczak, looking at them from a range of perspectives. We will try to read poetry through drawing, movement, music and body work. Young people, working together with artists and creative professionals, will discover various techniques of analysing texts: from illustration, through to performing on stage.
